Ett sfäriskt rullager består av en yttre ring med en sfärisk löpbana och en inre ring med två löpbanor, en eller två burar och en uppsättning sfäriska rullar.
Eftersom mitten av den yttre ringens sfäriska löpbana sammanfaller med lagrets centrum, har lagret den självjusterande egenskapen (Self-Alignment).
